April 19th was Jason's Mom's 50th Birthday. We flew up to Portland April 17th-21st. We had a great time!!! We drove to the beach on Friday eve. We stayed in a nice hotel on the beach. It had a nice kitchenette and 3 beds. I wanted to sleep with the door open so we could hear the waves but it was COLD!!!!! As soon as we got there Jason's little brother & stepdad, Jack & Chris were feeding the seagulls from the balcony. Then Jason and I had to try it. Kinda scary because they get really close and their beaks touch your fingers (I was the only one scared). Jason's sister, Lacy and her friend Heather, showed up a little while after that. We took pictures right befrore the sun went completey down. It was so pretty!!! It was kinda late by then so Jason's little brother Jack had to go swimming before the pool closed @ 10pm.
After that we all got to go to dinner. We ate a Mexican resturant named Mazatlan. Jason got mad @ me for making my order too complicating so I ordered whatever. That was all kinds of fun!
The next day (which was Debbie's b-day) we all went to breakfast at a place called Historic Pines Resturant. They had great food with really big portions and prices!!! Jason and I shared since the portions were so big and then found out @ the end of breakfast that it costs $5 to share! What a rip off!!! The bill for 7 was $75 (not including tip). Can you believe that for breakfast???? Chris won $150 @ keno!!! That was cool.
Since the beach is so cold & windy in Oregon it's not that fun to go hang out. So we drove to Newport beach to the Oregon Coast Aquarium. We got to touch starfish and sea urchens. We saw spider crabs, jellyfish, & seals(being fed). We had all kinds of fun putting our head in one of those antique diver helmets. The weather had gotten a little warmer after that so we drove to the Underwater Aquarium and then decided not to go since we had just seen pretty much the same things @ the OCA. We heard some sea lions so we went to the dock and found them making all kinds of noise. They were neat and there was a pretty view! After that we took a stroll on the main drag there and we bought salt water taffy, rocky road & a carmel apple. The sun was out and it warmed up it was very nice.
After we did all that we drove back to the hotel and I entertained Jack while Debbie, Lacy, Heather, and Jason slept. We got back to the hotel and Jack wanted to go to the batting cages there. On the way to the batting cages we picked up a cake and dropped it off @ the resturant. Chris, Jason, Jack and I all went to the batting cages. That was my first time @ the batting cages!! It was way fun. It hurts when you hit the ball good though.
Then we went to dinner @ Pier 101. We had dinner and cake and hung out for a while. Jason was making Jack think that water was dropping from the ceiling. He was "spraying" water from his teeth when Jack wasn't looking. It was funny! After dinner we drove back to the hotel and went to bed. The next morning (Sunday) Jason went swimming with Jack in the pool while all of us got ready. Then we all had breakfast @ Pig n Pancake. We shopped a little @ the outlet mall there (I bought a jean jacket) then we headed back to Portland.
Overall this was one of the best trips to Oregon that we've had!
